Character Description: Greg (30-50 male presenting): Greg is a restless, disillusioned man facing a midlife crisis. Burned out from his job and feeling disconnected at home, he finds unexpected joy and companionship in Sylvia, a stray dog who speaks to him. Greg is sensitive, earnest, and searching for meaning, though often oblivious to how his actions affect those around him—especially his wife, Kate. His journey is one of rediscovery, as he learns to balance love, fantasy, and reality.
Kate (30-50- female presenting): Kate is Greg’s intelligent, practical, and career-focused wife. She’s recently found new purpose in her work and is eager to embrace this phase of her life without distractions. Sylvia’s arrival disrupts the balance she’s worked hard to maintain, and she sees the dog as a threat to her marriage and future plans. Kate is strong, witty, and grounded—often the voice of reason—but underneath her frustration is a deep desire to reconnect with Greg and protect the life they’ve built.
